Notropica is a love letter to my childhood. I would spend hours upon hours upon HOURS in the character creator, making different versions of me and my friends and family. What would it look like if my brother was a ginger? What if my friend Annie had green eyes? What would I look like if I was a boy, that’s so funny, can you even imagine?

As a trans person, thinking about character creation/customization is almost like a pipe dream. What would I do if I had the opportunity to swap around my parts and fiddle with everything until it felt more like me? I really enjoyed working with permutations and combinations here to create an experience where everyone feels able to play dress-up.

This project is entirely hand-coded with HTML, CSS, and p5.js.
